The Strategies

7 defined-risk strategies.
No naked options, ever.

The L4 layer of IVIntel's pipeline matches current volatility conditions to one of seven strategy types — all with a hard cap on maximum loss built into the trade structure itself. Here's exactly how each one works.

Risk & Trade Structure
Defined risk. Always.
You know your max loss before you click.
All seven strategy types have a hard cap on maximum loss — baked into the structure of the trade itself. The L4 IVP-matching layer (see How It Works) selects the right strategy for current volatility conditions.

No naked options. No uncovered positions. No surprises.

All 7 have defined max loss
You know the worst case before you place the trade
Bullish Setup · Credit
Bull Put Spread
📈
Used when IVP ≥ 50 and the L3 pattern scanner confirms a bullish setup. You sell a put at a higher strike and buy a put at a lower strike — collecting a credit upfront.
What you receive Credit collected upfront
Max profit Credit received × 100
Max loss (Spread width − credit) × 100
When max loss occurs Stock closes below lower strike at expiry
Example · AAPL $213/$211 Bull Put Spread · IVP 78%
Credit collected: $1.08 per share
Max profit: $108 per contract
Max loss: $92 per contract
Stop loss (−40% of max risk): $37 real-world cap
Profit potential exceeds risk — elevated IV is what makes this possible
Bearish Setup · Credit
Bear Call Spread
📉
Used when IVP ≥ 50 and the L3 pattern scanner confirms a bearish setup. You sell a call at a lower strike and buy a call at a higher strike — collecting a credit upfront.
What you receive Credit collected upfront
Max profit Credit received × 100
Max loss (Spread width − credit) × 100
When max loss occurs Stock closes above higher strike at expiry
Example · SLB $49/$51 Bear Call Spread · IVP 71%
Credit collected: $1.12 per share
Max profit: $112 per contract
Max loss: $88 per contract
Stop loss (−40% of max risk): $35 real-world cap
Profit potential exceeds risk — elevated IV is what makes this possible
🔒
Loss is always capped
The most you can lose on any single trade is the spread width minus the credit received — never a dollar more. This is baked into the structure of the trade itself.
📋
Every signal shows max loss
Tier 1 signals include the exact dollar amount at risk per contract before you decide whether to place the trade. No ambiguity. No surprises after entry.
⚠️
You can lose the full amount
Defined risk means the loss is known — not that a loss can't happen. Losing trades are part of any real track record. See ours: every trade, including the losses.
IVIntel internal stop rule: −40% of max risk. Once a spread loses 40% of its maximum possible value, the position is statistically unlikely to recover — and holding it costs more than closing it. This is the exit assumption we use to track our own performance. You manage your own trade and set your own exit levels.
Broker requirements: Both trade types require Level 2 options approval at most brokers — the standard tier for spreads. You do not need Level 3 or Level 4 (which cover naked options). Most brokers grant Level 2 approval quickly for accounts with basic trading history. IVIntel signals are not suitable for accounts without options approval.
